Greetings from Sydney, Paris, or wherever we may be to wherever you may be. I've lived in Sydney since 1995 and have been visiting Paris for over 30 years. Since 1998, I've had my own apartment there, near the Eiffel Tower; I consider myself lucky but I've worked hard to make my own luck along the way, too.

For a long time, we were just another typical Washington, DC family: two policy-oriented jobs, two kids, and two cars. Out of the blue, my husband got a new assignment; we ditched the old jobs and the cars (but kept the kids) and headed to Paris for a three-year tour.

We returned from France late last Tuesday evening and had a great trip without any travel delays.

Bordeaux is a beautiful and easy to walk city. There are many pedestrian streets and a great tram system. Of course Paris it is always worth a visit especially if that is where you are flying in and out of.
